I love Thomas Friedman, and his latest post hit the nail of all my recent thoughts about the economy so squarely on the head, I just had to post about it. Our economy is so inextricably linked to mass consumerism and waste, it’s quite disheartening. As the country takes a collective financial nosedive, it’s hard to imagine what it will take to recover. And, at the same time, people are finally coming to realize that we are destroying the planet. So is there a recovery plan that will take care of both things? The solution that our previous administration pushed was, when the going got tough, America should go out and shop. We need something better than this. Is it possible to rebuild an economy, where value and wealth are created by taking care of the planet and people? I hope so.
