Here is another example of technology being utilized to advance social causes. This one is interesting - it has elements of Facebook. You can set up a “profile” and tag various causes to join. For each cause, you then get to different levels of achievement by scoring points. Points are awarded for either recruiting others to the cause, taking “actions”, or raising funds. Similar to Facebook and other sites, you can link to friends, have discussions, etc. Each cause also has its own sub-site with a blog, suggested actions, and other information. The objectives of the site are to “1. Learn about causes. 2. Connect to good people and nonprofits. 3. Take action.”
I like the “menu” approach to the issues and the ability to click down to learn more about each. As I come across these sites, I’m taking note of various elements and adding them to my own ideas. More to come.
