First Carbon Neutral Country?
According to an article in the NY Times, Mohamed Nasheed, president of the Maldives, recently announced that his country would become the first “carbon neutral” nation in the world.
If nothing else, he’s motivated:Scientists predict that his entire country of almost 1200 islands, at an average elevation of four feet above sea level, will be gone - submerged under water - by the end of this century.  This means that the entire population of about 300,000 people need to find somewhere else to live.  Bummer.
